Introduction

Welcome to the website of the Korea Association for Telecommunications Policies.

"Korea Association for Telecommunications Policies is one of the leading academic societies in the field of ICT, equipped with a strong tradition and a progressive attitude towards change."

  • Since its establishment in 1993, Korea Association for Telecommunications Policies has grown alongside the leap and development of ICT in Korea. Its initial research areas focused on policies for telecommunication industry such as the privatization, market design for competition, technological standardization, and information dissemination. Our research areas have expanded to cover a wide range of topics to meet the growing demands for ICT policies that reflect the changing landscape of society and technology. These topics include the convergence of voice, data, wireless, broadcasting, and telecommunications, as well as the digital transformation driven by data. Our academic has also expanded from economics to management, media, law, and engineering, aiming for interdisciplinary collaboration.
  • In recent years, the impact of ICT on social issues has increased rapidly, and the positive benefits and negative consequences of technology are now major global policy issues. ICT policies are no longer confined to specific technologies or industries, but encompass changes in all areas of society. As the scope and depth of change require the creation of new order, academic societies must contribute to policy-making through discussions on deep insights into the nature of the problem and creative solutions grounded in reality.
  • To achieve this, understanding and analyzing technology and its social impact, envisioning the future and evaluating short-term and long-term policy tools require open communication and interdisciplinary approaches among researchers from various fields, industry stakeholders, and government officials. The Korea Association for Telecommunications Policies will strive to become an academic platform that efficiently and effectively facilitates such communication and collaboration. Through this, we will fulfill our social role in addressing issues ranging from climate change, a problem requiring collective human response, to economic inequality caused by changes in industrial structure, and media and data literacy, problems caused by technology itself. We sincerely look forward to your active participation and suggestions.
